Cultural passport education

The Cultural Passport is a meaningful government initiative that opens the door to a rich world of culture and art for students. This programme gives the younger generation the opportunity to experience culture not only through textbooks but also through real-life experiences – by attending performances, concerts and exhibitions, and by participating in educational activities and creative workshops. Depending on their age group, students can participate in events with their class or group, and from the age of 16 – independently, choosing for themselves the cultural experiences that are most relevant and interesting to them.
Launched in 2018, the Cultural Passport programme aims to foster cultural awareness, curiosity, and the habit of active participation in cultural life among students, ensuring access to high-quality cultural and artistic services for all students attending general education schools. Today, the Cultural Passport offers more than 6 000 different educational programmes and activities – ranging from cultural heritage, ethnic culture and architecture to theatre, cinema, literature, ballet and circus arts.
It is wonderful that the opportunities offered by the Cultural Passport are also available at Ilzenberg Manor – a unique space of history, nature and culture. Here, students are invited to choose Cultural Passport services and participate in enriching educational programmes that allow them not only to explore the heritage of Lithuanian manors but also to experience living history, traditions and creative learning in an authentic environment. Ilzenberg Manor becomes a place where culture takes on a living form, and learning gains an inspiring meaning.

Educational tour “With a smartphone – through a park with 500 years of history!”

We invite you to experience a smart and engaging way to learn about history at Ilzenberg Manor – an educational tour where the past comes to life through movement, discovery and modern technology. The tour starts with a walk through the well-maintained Manor Park, where a guide introduces you to the history of the owners of Ilzenberg Manor, the development of the palace and park, and the unique aspects of manor life here from the Middle Ages to the present day.

 

During the tour, you will visit historical structures reconstructed within the territory of the park -a granary, a smokehouse, a bathhouse, a workshop, and a cannon court – revealing their purpose and significance in the daily life of the manor. As you walk along the paths of the English-style park, your attention is also attracted by contemporary sculptures, which blend subtly into the historical surroundings and surprise with their creativity and meaningful ideas.

After the introductory tour, participants are given a map of the Manor Park and take part in an interactive discovery game. While looking for marked objects using QR codes, they solve tasks, look for answers on information stands, or recall the stories told by the guide. All correct answers gradually reveal a hidden keyword, which crowns this lively and curious experience.

This is a tour that not only tells a story but allows you to experience it – actively, meaningfully and unforgettably.

Sustainable culinary heritage tasting and educational session “In Harmony with Nature for the Sake of Healthy Food and a Bluer Baltic Sea”

We invite you to take a lively tour to learn about the Ilzenberg Manor farm and its daily life – here, nature, work and taste blend into an authentic experience. During the tour, participants will not only learn how the products of the manor are made, but will also be able to taste many of them and evaluate their quality immediately.

The tour will begin on the spaces of the manor farm: you will visit the dairy, poultry house, apiary, orchard, greenhouses, vineyard, and agricultural machinery park. The guide will introduce you to the specifics of the manor farm, the principles of sustainable farming, and the daily work that ensures high quality and naturalness.

The tour will then continue to the manor office – the owner’s home – where participants will be introduced to the products grown in harmony with nature and naturally produced at Ilzenberg Manor. Here, you will learn about production methods, the details of tasting and the tasting process itself.

During the educational session, participants will be invited to complete practical tasks that allow them to delve even deeper into the world of flavours.

And the entire experience will be crowned with an exclusive manorial touch – a memorable shot from Swedish cannon, leaving a bright impression and a smile on every guest’s face..

Educational tour “Harmony Between Human and Nature in Ilzenberg Manor Park”

As soon as the tour begins, participants are invited to become true explorers of Ilzenberg Manor Park. Here, nature unfolds not as a background, but as a living story – one of interconnections, secret signs, and the invisible order that links the living and non-living environments. Every step in the park becomes a discovery: participants learn to identify trees, plants and animals and understand their roles in the ecosystem of the manor.

Participants take part in an orienteering adventure, using forgotten but extremely valuable tools – a paper map, natural landmarks and observation skills. This experience encourages you to slow down, listen and feel the environment just as people did many centuries ago.

The educational programme consists of four dynamic stages: getting to know the majestic trees of the park, exploring the aquatic world by the lake and pond, an adventurous search for hidden treasure on a wild island, and a fun quiz to reinforce the knowledge gained.

Through games, practical exploration and storytelling, participants not only learn but also experience – they come to understand that humans have always been a part of nature, and that understanding and preserving nature begins with curiosity, respect and a living connection to the environment.

Cultural educational tour “Along the Water Path Through the History of Ilzenberg Manor”

This is an exceptional experiential educational trip by eCatamaran on Lake Ilgis, inviting students to take a journey filled with learning, discovery and inspiration through the treasures of the Lithuanian nature and history.

As they sail across the calm waters of Lake Ilgis, students will discover the origins of the lake in person, listen to stories about the history of Ilzenberg Manor, the culture and heritage of the region, and the unique local flora and fauna. Surrounded by nature, students will learn not only about the history of the past but also about contemporary challenges – ecological issues, the importance of sustainability, and the significance of a responsible attitude towards nature will be discussed.

During the educational programme, students will be active participants: they will observe nature, complete practical tasks, analyse the environment, and take part in discussions, developing critical thinking and environmental awareness. Learning will take place not in the classroom, but directly in nature, engaging experience, senses and lively dialogue.

The purpose of the educational programme is to encourage curiosity and respect for the natural and cultural heritage of Lithuania, to deepen knowledge of nature, the history of the region, and the importance of ecology through experiential activities, and to educate responsible, conscious, and future-oriented individuals.

Educational game “QR Code Hunt at Ilzenberg Manor”

Have you ever travelled along the old trade route that a baron of the Livonian Order took in 1515 from Germany to settle in Ilzenberg, on a hill near Lake Ilgis? Today, this route invites you to discover an ancient manor in eastern Lithuania and explore its history in a smart way.

The educational game “QR Code Hunt at Ilzenberg Manor” begins with a walk through the Manor Park, where a guide introduces the history of the owners of the manor, the Palace, and the park, as well as the lifestyle from the Middle Ages to the present day. Students explore the granary, smokehouse, bathhouse, office, cannon court and open-air park-museum of the Manor, decorated with sculptures.

Later, divided into groups, the students embark on an interactive history hunt: using a map of the park and QR codes, they search for objects, solve tasks, fill out a crossword puzzle, and discover a hidden keyword. The fastest and most accurate participants will be awarded with prizes from the manor, and the educational activity culminates with an unexpected surprise from Ilzenberg.
